you have to wait until the second snow of the season. The first snow cleans the atmosphere. And you have to eat it right after it falls, otherwise a dog could have wondered by and used it as a bathroom, etc. I eat snow cream all the time. You got out and get a bucket full of snow, and mix it with vanilla creame, and mix it up, and makes a good desert. And people catch snowflakes on their tongue all the time. But i don't know if it's healthy to get a handfull of snow and shove it in your mouth.

The truth is that eating requires a tremendous amount of energy, body heat to melt the snow in the first place, and the amount of water is several times LESS than the amount of snow was originally. A bucket of snow will melt down to a very tiny amount of water.

This is a good question.
I ate snow when I was a kid 50 yrs. ago.
My kids ate snow in the 70's, & I was told it wasn't safe.
Today, I imagine it's full of chemicals from the atmosphere.
I'd like to know the answer to this question also.
I don't think I'd eat it today.

Lets just put it this way...eating snow is just like drinking rain. It's the same thing...only frozen. Would you drink rain?
