When I took it it was out of 1600.

The prev answer is half right and half wrong. The test is out of 2400, with 800 points going to the writing session. However, there is only 1 essay, and there are no questions on punctuation (although the use of ";" is tested, it is only in conjunction with the concept of run-on sentences).

It is now 2400. In addition to the math and reading parts for 800 points each, there is now a writing part as well, in which you have to write essays and correct punctuation/grammar.
