The separation of Eastern Orthodox from Roman Catholics occurred with the division of the Roman Empire. The capital of the eastern empire was based out of Constantinople (Present day Istanbul, Turkey) and the capital of the western empire continued to be Rome. I believe that this occurred around 385 AD. As the western empire fell, the two parts of the empire started to go their own ways and so did the Christian Church. I do not know who the King of Britain was at this time.

You're confusing the:
Great Schism (1054, between Eastern Orthodox and Western Christians)
with the:
Reformation (1517 - the breakaway of Protestants from Catholics), and specifically the Reformation in England (1529-1536)?

The English (not British) King who instigated the Reformation was Henry VIII.

Queen Elizabeth the 1st wanted a divorce from her so gay husband so she made up the protestant church. All the wealthy landholders went along with her so they could keep taxes down. The servants and poor were the catholics.
