Yes, I myself have an IQ higher than that. The only other person I know with an IQ that high is a kid who went to my school for profoundly gifted kids.

Well, assuming that the average IQ is 100 and the standard deviation is 15 points, an IQ of 170 would be 4.667 sigma above the mean. If I remember correctly, the cumulative distribution function is
F(x) = (2 pi)^(-1/2) integral[-inf,x] { exp[ (-1/2) t^2 ] dt }
And the fraction of the population with an IQ of 170 or more is
1 - F(4.667)
Solving the integral gives us 1.530602E-6. So one person in about 653000 has an IQ of 170 or more. There'd be about 460 of them in the USA, if the population there is 300 million and if the average is still 100 (doubtful, given the extent of your Mestizo immigration).
The proportion of persons having very high IQs is very sensitive to shifts in the mean IQ. If you could raise the average by only 2 points, you'd double the fraction of the population with IQs over 170. An upward shift of 7.5 points, just half a standard deviation, would multiply this proportion by a factor of ten.

My IQ is over 170 (as measured by Mensa). I spent 23 years as a US Army officer and loved every minute of it. This just goes to show you, if you love what you are doing in live, go for it!

Yes, my ex-wife...she keeps telling me how smart she is and how she should have never married a guy as "stupid" as me...I sure hope her new boyfriend understands how smart she is...cause she sure swindled me out of my IQ...and all my belongings, including my kids to boot! Boy did I miss that altier motive when I walked down the 'ol isle...I guess I shoulda known when she was at the bar just before the pressession---oh well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say...Eh, come to think about it...Any good lookin' blondes, brunette's or redheads with a solid career and lots of money and self-confidence need a personal dish washer and a pretty good massage specialist without the paperwork and comes with a guarantee that if you don't get off, I'm not allowed to either? Just a thought...

Which IQ scale are you referring to?
I don't hang out with people who brag about their IQ scores, despite the fact that I'm a former Mensa member. Do you? If so, isn't it annoying? Do their scores seem to have any bearing at all on their actual ability to deal with everyday life?

Several, but it is a poor indicator for success. You need much more than a high IQ to function in society.
