When Peyton throws Eli receives. Then Eli tosses it back to Peyton and now Peyton is the receiver. When Archie shows up, when he throws to Peyton, Peyton is the receiver, Eli is on defense. Then Archie throws to Eli, then they switch, Eli throws to Archie, Peyton throws to Eli, etc. Then friends drop by, they choose up sides, Peyton throws to (I gotta go now).

Old Archie probably holds down Eli while Peyton just tosses it to him as hard as he can, again and again.

while both are pretty much the same i would say that he is catching the ball. Being that receiving is mostly heard when talking about a recieving position in football. he is catching the ball because QB's dont recieve the ball in play.
