Here is a website on how you should resign. I think for the time it is better for you to pick. If you don't want a big scene then I would do it in the afternoon, or schedule an appointment with your boss in the after noon some time. In the morning will be to early, because you will be giving a two weeks notice so they will have two weeks to replace you. I hope this helps. Good luck tomorrow

Sometimes when you give notice, the boss will tell you that you are dismissed immediately, so best to quit in the morning so you have the rest of the day off! Smile smile. If you quit at end of day, there is no time for boss to discuss the details and then they sleep on it all night and think of lots of questions for you. Inevitably, if you are not immediately dismissed, you will still have to face everyone the next day. No matter what, those two weeks will seem like an eternity, no matter how long you have worked there, no matter how good of a worker you were, they may look at you like you are about to commit sabotage, steal or not work hard enough.

Anytime... Resigning is not doing anything unethical and hence tendering ur letter at any time does not matter at all. The best way is to let your colleague know that you are resigning and tender your letter to your boss the same day. This way will gives you more courage to approach your boss.

I think it depends on what type of relationship you have with the people you would be leaving behind. If you get along with them OK, then morning would be the best time. Better to be up front. If you can't stand this job or the people, then I'd wait until later on.

If you feel there won't be any confrontation or friction, do it first thing. Else-wait for close of business so there won't be any spillover to other employees. Just do it, but don't discuss or hint to other employees.

I like to give it email/deliver it right before lunch so I'll have time to calm down over my break!
Please don't let your colleagues know until after you've delivered it. That's unprofessional.

After lunch... People are normally busy in the morning and you don't want to ruin their lunch by stirring things up.
