Really about all you can do besides getting antibiotics is treat the symptoms and keep the nasal passages clear which will help the Eustachian tubes to drain a little. I have heard of an oddball remedy for sinus infections (often sinus infections can lead to an ear infection). A friend told me when he was younger a friend's dad helped him get rid of a sinus infection by inflating some kind of nasal expander in his sinus passages, and then gave him a pill that helped him sleep. And the infection was gone in a few hours. The idea was that all the bacteria laden gunk was cleared allowing proper drainage.
Other than that helpful things may be sleeping so that the head is at an angle by making sure to have a pillow behind the neck, and typical cold remedy type things like humidifiers. Spray decongestents like Afrin can help in the short term.

It depends. Is it an earache only or why do you think it's an ear infection?
Many causes but you didn't give enough info. Are there any other symptoms such as a cold? Fever? Fluid? be very careful.
I use hydrogen peroxide. The first sign of a little pain, which could be caused from wax, I use a dropper and fill the ear canal. Lie down so the peroxide bubbles for a couple minutes. Use a tissue to wipe (catch) what comes out.
A warm heating pad helps the pain. Or fill a sock with rice and heat it in the microwave. Use that for your heating pad

I always got those....very painful....the best way to take care of those ear infections is to go to the store and get like ear infection drop and at night put a few drops and than put a cotton on it so when u're sleeping the drop doesn't come out. Keep on doing this everytime until it feels much better, but sometimes u have to go to the doctors so they can give u that special remedy, but not all the time.

If you truly have an ear infection it needs to be treated with antibiotics. My friend is now totally & permanently deaf in one ear from a misdiagnosed and untreated ear infection. Are you avoiding the doctor due to lack of insurance? If so, explain you don't have insurance, they may cut you a break on the cost of the visit and give you samples of antibiotics, or prescribe a lower cost generic.
Good luck

There is a very simple remedy for ear ache or infection. One table spoon of garlic cut up in half a cup of water. Let it soak for a while. Strain off the garlic and put 2-3 drops in the ear. Garlic is a natural infection fighter.

There is a clear difference between an earache and an ear infection. With an earache you don't do anything and let it go away, with an ear infection you need antibiotics, or you could just pray for it to go away.

The answer is yes. It is possible to have tinnitus in one ear. It is the same case with eye problems. Most people have
vision impairment in one eye rather than both. The same applies to ear problems. At times, the ringing may be experienced
in one ear alone. Even so, depending on how loud the noise is, the noises can be disturbing. One way of easing the symptoms
of tinnitus is by educating yourself extensively about the problem.
The noise may be perceived as:
Chirping
Whistling
Hissing
Roaring
Humming
Shrieking
Buzzing

Garlic oil, You can buy a bottle of natural garlic oil at your local health food store, or you can purchase liquid garlic capsules. Lay down on the side that is not bothering you and put two drops, or half a garlic capsule, into the offending ear. Put a piece of cotton in your ear for a few minutes to allow the liquid to make its way to your eustachian tube. You may repeat this process a couple of times, but usually the first dose takes care of it.
