I think Yarro Pilz is right. Thalidomide was a drug that America's FDA banned, but many Europeans used it and had children without arms or legs. But this was in the 1960's.
DES -- diethylstilbestrol -- was the drug about which it was announced around 1976 that it would make the DAUGHTERS of women who had taken it have problems with having children.

Thalidomide was a drug given to moms in the 1950's and 1960's that caused birth defects.
Bendectin was a drug that caused some birth defects in the 1970's.

Thalidomide. contraceptive, when women stop taking it they would give birth to children with no arms nor legs. There are people with those defects still around in many parts of the world

Not Thalidomide. Thalidomide caused external birth defects, particularly missing limbs.
I think you're thinking of DES. I don't remember what it stands for, but DES daughters have a tough time having children of their own.

Moms who took a drug called DES for short (sorry I don't remember the full name) produced daughters that could have reproductive problems. They were called DES Daughters. They stopped using it in the 70's.
