You get a blanket, a pillow, a cup, a little tooth brush, a little tooth paste, a bar of soap DO NOT DROP if you drop that soap just kick it away. You'll get a comb. You will also recieve a booklet containing you're rights and the rules and regulations of the facility.
I would suggest on you're first day you read you're handbook thoroughly. Put in a KITE a.k.a. request form for an extra blanket they will give you one. It gets cold in there.
Make sure to take some money with you, or have someone come by the prison and put some on you're books. Then once a week you can order from comissary, a.k.a. cantine. you can order pretty much anything such a soup snacks and candy, also shampoo better soap, radio's, paper pencils, all kinds of stuff that will help you get through the nightly lockdown.
Other than that just mind you're own bussiness, dont be annoying and you'll be just fine.
If you can try and put in a KITE to be a trustee they will cut time off you're sentence for that and it looks good to the parole board.

It will be controling, they will tell you when to walke up, when to eat, what work to do in prison, when to sleep.
Normally in general population, you will do some work detail in daytime ( kitchen is a great place, since you can sneak food out and trade for other things)
You wil watch TV in the general area in the evening, play cards with the other inmates ( try not to gamble)
Just mind your own business and you should be ok.

Make the best of it. Be on your best behavior so you can get out earlier, sign up for work detail that is needed, find out from the trustee or warden what they would like done most, go to church, they have a strong fellowship where they can help you through the rough times.
Also, learn a new trade so that when you get out, you can become employed in something you like.
Good luck and God Bless you

Hi! All I can say is that it's going to be tough. In case you get jail time try to do something creative inside. Learn new craft. Temember there is still hope a lot of famous people were jailed too. Like Presidents, Senators, etc. Don't loose hope. Don't let prison life affect you. Try. I know it's harder than it seems. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

They will give you blanket..pillow and if you are lucky a bag with basics like soap and deoderant. (I work in a prison) If you do as you are told you will be ok..if not you will have a rough time. What you can and can't keep will vary from prison to prison.
