I've noticed people from the UK, Australia and Canada ask questions about U.S. politics, U.S. TV, U.S. history, etc. Why is that? Why the popularity of life in the U.S. I visit all the English speaking sites because I'm interested in their views, but I'm surprised about all the questions about the U.S. I'm somewhat a stickler on use of the English language and find I'm reading more intelligent questions posed from other countries than from my own. I wish I could visit the non-English sites to learn more about them. I have visited all the English speaking countries amd a few other countries as well and have always felt at home everywhere I went. I don't take the "ugly American" image with me when I visit. I always believe "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". How more simple can that be? One thing I can say about the American education system is; there are too many countries in the world and not enough time in school to cover even a tiny percentage of the history of other countries.

We are so similar in many ways and so different in many others. It's no wonder we are curios about America in the same way as some Americans are curious about England.

probably to learn more about it.... they see references and information on their news reports and either can't believe their ears/eyes or they just don't understand the concept.

for example, when i went to Poland -there were countryside homes wide open, animals out in the yard, their businesses wide oopen with no one there and there was no theft or vandalism.... what we do to each other here in the states is unreal so.... they probably think it's some kind of movie/joke and need to get the real asnwers.
