He was a fascist. He was part of a group called Tosei-Ha (Control Group). The group was an attempt to represent the more conservative moderates in opposition to the more extremist group Koda-Ha (Imperial Benevolent Rule or Action Group). Both factions came from the same group the Double Leaf Society. It was a 1920's militaristic group with fanatical ultra-nationalistic beliefs
