I don't get it. Why are questions like "if a tree falls does it make a sound" or "the sound of one hand clapping" supposed to be deep? Who cares what the sound of one hand clapping is. In fact, one hand can't clap, so the sound does not exist.

One hand can't clap so the sound doesn't exist? That's not the point
Point is when you clap with your hands(the 2)what's the sound of one?If you answer none how can two no sounds create a sound.0+0=0 so it should also make no sound.
Still we all know it does make a sound...so that's deep

Actually, it's "If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there, does it make a sound?" Yes it does. And the other one, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" As a matter of fact, one hand CAN clap by itself - if it claps against another surface....

The point is that these are theoretical questions, not literal ones - they're supposed to make you think outside the box....
