PIM: Penalties in minutes. 2 minutes for a minor, 4 for a double-minor, 5 for a major, 10 for a misconduct.

PPG: Power-play goal. Scored when your team has one (or two) more player(s) on the ice than the other team.

SHG: Shorthanded goal. Scored when your team has one (or two) fewer player(s) on the ice than the other team.

+/- ("Plus/Minus"): A player receives a plus if he is on the ice when his team scores an even-strength or shorthanded goal. He receives a minus if he is on the ice when his team concedes an even-strength or shorthanded goal. (Power play goals do not affect plus-minus). Thus, it is used as a ratio of offense-to-defense in a very general sort of way for every player, independently of goals and assists.

GWG: Game-winning goal. The goal which proves to be the difference-maker (even if it wasn't at the time. i.e. If you score a goal to make it 2-0 for your team, then the other team scores one more before the game is over, yours is considered to be the game-winning goal).

For goaltenders:

GAA: Goals-against average. Goals surrendered by a goaltender on average for every 60 minutes he plays.

SPCT: Save percentage. A simple ratio of saves made per shot faced. (Not actually a percentage... usually expressed like .897 or .912)

SO: Shutouts. Games completed where no goal is surrendered.

First I must hate your guts for not knowing anything about hockey and being number 1 in your league :-)>

PIM is penalty minutes, plus/minus is....aw hell--- I'm really tired right now, I will amend this tomorrow. Meanwhile go to your team and hit Help---you'll get all your answers.

How in the wide wide world of sports did you draft this team---or did you let Yahoo do it for you?

Congrats and good luck the rest of the season! Watch some games, it's the most exciting sport in the world and a very worthy addiction.

Welcome to hockey!

ok you must have a good 'ol case of the beginners luck!! PIM is penalty in Minutes (how many minutes a player has been penalized for) +/- is plus Minus when a player is on the ice and his team scores he gets a positive point like +1if he is on the ice and his team is scored on then he gets a point subtracted -1 you could see players with a 25 or even a -25 depending on how well he and his team preforms.

never heard of ppp could be power play points meaning goals and assists one has on all his power plays.
GP=games played G=goals A=assists Pts total points (gaols and assists) +/-=see above PIM=see above PPG Power play goals PPA=powerplay assists SHG=short handed goals SHA= short handed assists GW=game winning goals GT=game tying goals SOG=shots on goal Pct=percentage of shots that score.

good luck in your league and welcome to my great obsession called hockey!!!!

GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!

the biggest ingredient I pronounced even as observing video games with novices replaced into what percentage cases I heard it replaced into problematical to adhere to the p.c... On television or on the game, similar comments. Then it befell to me that they were actually attempting to adhere to the p.c.. while i replaced into searching to the position the p.c.. replaced into going. After that i tried to honestly watch the p.c.. for a lengthy time period and understood what they were speaking about. in case you've grown up with the game, the bypass and attitude of the game permits you to study and assume what the guy on television is going to do. you do not watch the wraparound promote off in, you concentration on the weak area wing and the goalie. you do not watch the d-guy wearing the p.c.. out of his zone, you look at his bypass thoughts... etc. compared to football the position a ball is administered, handed and stuck or baseball the position a ball is thrown to a purpose for a guy to swing at, hockey's % and attitude makes it complicated for a newcomer to completely take excitement in what's extremely happening accessible except a p.c.. is going contained in the internet or 2 adult adult males are punching one yet another. i do not mean this as a mild in besides, recommendations you. that is purely how that is... The Theo Fleury truth instruct might want to were a lot extra interesting 8 years in the past. extra depressing to boot, i might want to wager.

Hockey is much like the seal hunt, except we club a round black thing instead of the seals so movie stars won't get upset.
