Well, he flips up the rug, and the key is missing. Then suddenly, from the side, Ed Rooney's beaten-up foot pounds down beside him. Then Mr. Rooney starts up his speech, about how he finally caught him. "How would you feel about another year of high school? Under my close...personal...supervision?" Then the back door opens and Ferris' sister steps out. She says, "Thank God you're all right! You know, we've been worried sick about you? Thank you, Mr. Rooney, for driving him home. Now I want you," (turns to Ferris) "to go upstairs and get in bed." Ferris is so happy, but trying not to let it show. He coughs weakly and sidles inside. His sister says, "Scoot!" and then she says, "By the way, Mr. Rooney, you left your wallet on the kitchen floor." Rooney's mouth gapes; the sister tosses his wallet and you hear a sound effect like it landed in water. Then she slams the back door on him, which wakes up the dog. There's a shot of the sister leaning on the door with a grin along with the sound effects of the dog attacking Mr. Rooney and him screaming. Ferris, meanwhile, runs upstairs, shrugs off his jacket, hops into bed, and suddenly realizes he left the machine that's making snoring noises on. The bedroom knob is turning, and he knows it's his parents, so he can't get out of bed. He takes a baseball and throws it at the button on the machine, which shuts off just in time. His parents come in, and make sure he's okay. Then they leave, and he looks into the camera, saying, "Yep. It's like I said before. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Then he gives this huge grin. As the credits are rolling, Mr. Rooney is walking down the sidewalk, all beaten up and bloody, and the school bus stops beside him. The woman driving asks him if he's okay, and he waves her away. She asks, "Do you want a ride?" And he resignedly gets on. Then they show the grafitti in the bus, saying stuff like Rooney sucks. A girl offers him a gummi bear she's had in her pocket for a while, so it's warm and soft. He takes it and throws it away. Then, if you wait long enough for the credits to finish, Ferris comes around the corner of his kitchen in a bathrobe and says, "You're still here? It's over." He scoffs. "Go home. Go."

He gets busted by Art Rooney and if about to rue the day he was caught when his sister Jean opens the back door and tells the Principal thank you for seeing him home from the doctor. Then she lets him in the house and throws Rooney's wallet out the door from where she found it. It of course woke up the dog. She closed the door and you could hear the dog attacking Rooney. Ferris makes a b line up stair to kick the mannequin out of his bed and take its place before his bickering parents can get into the room. Last but not least he has to throw a baseball at the tape machine to turn off the snoring. They come in and he is warm and sweatty and the mother is thinking he should take another day off. The parents leave the room and he tells his audience that "Life moves to quick, If you wait too long you may miss it.

The key isn't there. Principal Rooney is standing there holding it. He tells Ferris he's finally caught him. Ferris' sister opens the door and thanks Rooney for "driving Ferris home from the hospital" effectively covering for him. She lets Rooney know she is aware of his burglary of the house by handing him the wallet he dropped in the kitchen. She slams the door and it wakes the dog who attacks Rooney.

Ferris runs upstairs and jumps into bed before his parents get there. They assume he's been home all day and compliment him on being wonderful. Rooney limps down the street and is picked up by a bus full of kids. He sits down beside a VERY creepy little girl who gives him a warm gummy bear. He stares dejectedly at a kids notebook that says "SAVE FERRIS" in ornate letters. Then he sees graffiti that says "Rooney Blows". The bus pulls off. The credits roll and the film ends. Ferris stares at us after the film is over and asks why we're still here. He tells us to go home.
