I have to march in it this year and I want to know how to prepare for it.
Oh yeah and my band is doing the opening ceremony if interested.

I was in the high school marching band when we did it, and I remember it was dark, freezing, and LONG! Quite a buzz though.

We also did the King Kamehameha Day Parade (in Hawaii) in July 1976 and that was worse. Hot, sweaty, and very long. We all about passed out in the heat. And the blisters!?!?!?!

Have fun, and congratulations.

When I worked for Disney, I danced the entire Rose Parade on January 1, 1973 as a chimney sweep from Mary Poppins. All of the characters with masks were replaced at the the half way point, but those of us with FACES danced the entire 7 miles - doing one-handed cartwheels ALL THE WAY.

It seemed to take forever. My brother and I were in the Boy Scouts and had to march in the stupid parade. My parents beat me half to death when they saw me flip off half the people in the known world on TV after the parade. And if you are going first you should probably wear long underwear cause it'll be very cold.
