Is there a device that detcts rain and will shut off a yard sprinkling sysen for 24 hours afterward? I know it is possible because the windshield wipers on my car go on automatically when it rains.

Yes there is such a devise... Most all of the newer sprinkler control stations have a auxiliary terminal that you can attach a "Rain Detector" to.. It will seance the rain and respond by canceling the days scheduled watering. Bye default, i believe it stops for 24 hours but can be increased for more time or if still raining after24hrs it will again skip the day... I have one on my rain bird station and have installed them on Gene, Toro, and even a few generic systems... Home Depot sales them and I believe they run around $15.00, BUT they must be compatible with the system... They are very handy and DO save the yard and $$! Good luck.

A Barometer. Barometric pressure can be an indicator of coming rain storms.

My knee hurts right before the rain. If that helps.

I use a device called my hand. I turn my hand palm up and place it out in front of me. If raindrops hit it I turn off the sprinklers. It never fails!
