I think there is, but I still haven't figured out quite why. Perhaps it's because everything slows down and people come back to their families for the holidays. Love was born on Christmas. My wedding anniversary is five days before that. Hehe, I don't know! :)

...at the end of every thing, i think.

we don't get sentimental only at the end of the year.
the time/thing that's ending
could be a party or a job or a relationship...

we just have to remember
that sentimental doesn't mean sad.
and, that some things can't begin
until other things end.

(a truth from the eternities)

"...and now the end is near
.....i traveled each and ev'ry highway,
and more, much more than this,
i did it my way..."
--frank sinatra

"...i would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful
time living life, a man who had good friends,
fine family - and i don't think i could ask
for anything more than that, actually..."

Defenitely.

It's a feeling of satisfaction and honour that you got through another year with the friendship and love intact. You feel stronger, more aware, more 'something'.

It's a certain pride, a warmth that fills you from the inside out.

It's a spectacular feeling, having spent so much time with someone and still remaining 'together'.

Yes, there is -which is why "Auld Lang Syne" is a popular song to this day for New Year's. We tend to reminisce at year's end about those we have lost during that past year, which leads to reminiscence about those we have lost in prior years.

"Sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
sing with me, just for today
maybe tomorrow the good Lord'll take you away"
-Aerosmith, "Dream On"

Yes there is. The holidays celebrate togetherness, and the cold weather brings us together inside our warm homes. That is also why suicide rates are higher at this time of year--lack of feeling loved or cared about, disconnected from family, friends, or life.

Yes, and there are many reasons I could ponder until year's end itself, but what it really comes down to is that Love is like Winter:

Yes! Everyone makes amends, it seems, on Dec. 31. Too bad that feeling can't last all year.
