I was told that a patient requested ultrasound usually runs at least $350. However, you can do one at the 3D/4D places for under $250. I had it done at 28 weeks and it was 4D with a home video and we paid $200. I just had to say that I knew it was an elective u/s not for medically reasons. I am sure they can do it at any stage, but I wanted the 4D. The place I went to was something like Miracle Imaging in Plantation but they have a few of them.

These days they charge whatever the heck they want. In my area it costs $1000 to get the AFP4 screening for birth defects done(thank the Lord we have good insurance). Is this an "elective" ultrasound, or because something is wrong? Talk to your insurance provider, if you have one, about why it isn't covered. If you don't have insurance, maybe you could look into medicare or some other program. With health costs the way they are, your hands are basically tied. I'm really sorry.

I had 5 done with both of my kids and didn't have to pay anything. The doctor requested it and said it was for medical reasons and so I didn't have to pay.
