how do you find the vert asymptote of h(x)=(x+5)/x ?

Try plotting it at various points and see where h(x) goes to infinity. x = 0 is an obvious first choice, and right there you see that you are dividing by zero. Division by zero gives you an infinite quotient, & then you notice that for all other real values of x, the value is finite. Now you have it.

h(x) = ∞ at x = 0.

The asymptote line is the y-axis.

Set the denominator equal to zero and solve. So x=0. The VA is at x=0
