The extra 7% must be the same as the 2240 yen (though it's awkwardly put).

Let Y and T be what the store made yesterday and today.

0.07Y = 2240
T = 1.07Y

So

T = 1.07*2240/0.07 = 34240

If it made 7% more today than yesterday, and it made 2240 yen more, then 7% of yesterday's take must be equal to 2240 yen. 7% = 2240. Divide by 7 to get 1% = 320. Then multiply by 100 to get 100% = 32000. Yesterday the store made 32000 yen. Today they made 2240 more yen, for a total of 34240.

I get it!!Are you saying that 7% if the total money the store emade is 2240 yen?Therefore,if 2240 yen is 7 percent of YESTERDAY's income,and the whols of yesterday's income is therefore 100 percent,then wouldn't that mean that today's income is 100% + 7%?Therefore,the amount of money the store made today is 107% x 2240.....u figure it out from there

hmm maybe the translation is off?

my guess would be that the store had made 7% more than it did yesterday which was 2240 more yen...

in that case you would just have to solve .07x=2240

to get what they made yesterday... but then again im not sure if this is even what is being asked.

First, 7% of what number is 2240? That is how much they made yesterday, x.

0.07x = 2240, x = 2240/0.07 = 32,000 yen.

So they made 32000 + 2240 = 34,240 yen today.

There are several ways to do this, just trying to show one way that might be understood.
