When can you take a pregnancy test? Is it best to wait after your missed period? Are the results of testing before a missed period very accurate?

If you take a test before your period is due and you get a positive it is pretty acurate.

If you take the test and you get a negative it is very likely that it was too early. Some women won't test positive even after their period is late. (I was blessed with not getting a positive until I was 6 days late--very annoying.)

It is better to wait until you miss your period so you can get a more reliable answer. Plus, if your period comes you don't waste money on a test.
