I rode my 1948 indian chief across Texas, enroute from San Diego to Minneapolis. I got pulled over 4 times, 3 of which were in Texas. Not for speeding or anything, they just wanted to ask about the bike. One trooper even posed for pictures with it.
Yea, I took them for him.
It was a long, hot ride across the state, but the people were so good to us. I was on my way home after finishing my tour with the Marine corps, and it was sure nice to meet some civilian friendlies. Like the song says, "God Bless Texas". When I can, I'll be back.

I was stationed in San Antonio for a year....I have to agree with the humidity...and no trees hardly at all....I much prefer all the green trees and the Ozark Mountains here in Arkansas. And few insects compared to San Antonio...hated looking in the sink and seeing all those roaches. Also, we get snow here some in the winter which I like.
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer TX to a lot of other places, like the New England states...it's just that I like forest areas.

I live in Houston. I'm originally from Oklahoma. I love Houston except for the weather especially at Christmas when I think it should snow and not slush. I have lived here for 26 years so I can't complain to much. I LOVE AUSTIN!!! 6th street is the best (to many clubs in one place to choose from). If I could get my husband to move there and find a job we probably would.

All Texans I know are proud to be Texans, they are intelligent and talented people, and their accent is quite understandable to Californians. All the Californians I know who moved there love it. (And usually end up buying HUGE houses with their California money...)
Let's not forget the power of a good Texas style barbecue, either.
