I have tried it and it didn't work. I smoked up to 2 packs a day and then I got pneumonia and I have been smoke free for the last 43 days. It's a bad way to quit, but I now believe that cold turkey is the best way. They did put me on the patches while I was in the hospital for about 4 days. They do help. Good luck to you.

I quit cold turkey. And I'm smoke-free for 3 years now! My girlfriend was hypnotized and she quit for 2 years so, yes, it can work. I think the trick is that you have to REALLY REALLY want to quit and you will - by whatever method you choose. Good luck to you!

Personally I never did use it for quitting smoking,.. but I have met a couple of folks who did use it successfully for quitting. .... I have experienced hypnosis a number of times myself, for other reasons,.. and I can tell you that it does not work for everyone. First of all,... not everyone can be hypnotised and some are better subjects for hypnosis than others, .. but if you are a good subject, it should work for you where quitting smoking is concerned. ... Most hypnotists require a series of approx. 4 sessions in order for it to work.
The actual experience of being hypnotised is quite pleasant. It is basically a very relaxing experience and most people who experience it for the first time, typically afterwards claim that they were not hypnotised. ... This is basically because hypnosis is simply a "cooperation" between the conscious mind of the recipient and the hypnotist,... towards allowing the hypnotist to place a "suggestion" in the recipients unconscious mind. ... You will be aware of the entire process and simply experience it as you choosing to cooperate with the hypnotherapist. ....... In truth,.. you can pull yourself out of a state of hypnosis any time you want to. You never really lose control of your own will. If you are truly hypnotised,.. you are simply consciously cooperating with the hypnotist and nothing more.
While under hypnosis,.. no-one can make you do anything that goes against your moral judgement etc.

I've tried it and it didn't work, although I know many people that it did work for. It depends on the person I suppose. Some methods work better for some than others.
