I've got tons of ideas, but it depends on how much time you want to spend interacting with this child. Another poster mentioned play doh, and kids that age do like it. You can also find recipes on the web to make it yourself...easy and cheap way to keep a fresh supply.

Paper plates, the cheap kind, can be a background for an art project involving some school glue (you can make your own with flour and water), cotton balls, and bits of construction paper cut into shapes. Add a bit of string and there is something to take home for Mommy to hang up.

Empty toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, and the blank side of cereal boxes can be used as a base for a lot of projects. My daughter still uses a Christmas angel that I made with my grandson out of an old blouse, some cotton balls, and a bit of yarn.

Feel free to e-mail me. I basically raised my grandsons, while my daughter worked, and, if you want to spend the time with the child, you can do a whole lot of things.

play doh! It is very creative..and if he is supervised..it wont make a mess...I put a plastic liner down and my son can play for hours! It is inexpensive and easy to clean up..
