To keep the Democrats busy wondering what's going on. Then while the Democrats are looking at all the junk, the Republicans can sneak up from behind them, and smash their heads in.

LOLOL That IS the question, isnt it? What you have to look at though, is who is benefitting from it? If the answer is major U.S. corporations...well, there's your answer. Republicans spend money on the military;to them it isnt junk. It's just a fact of life.

Could you give us some specific examples, Dan? Are you referring to the $29billion in prok-barrel earmarks that were part of the FY2006 budget?

They do it because they all think that bringing money home to their districts will cause voters to re-elect them. So you are correct: according to the results last Tuesday, these earmarks did no good.
