Well...you figure square footage by multiplying the length of the room by the width of the room. A room that is 8 foot by 5 foot would be a 40 square foot room. A room that is 10 by 6 would be 60 square feet.

That would be:
4 ft by 10 ft (too narrow)
5 ft by 8 ft (pretty small)
or
6 ft by 6 2/3 ft (still pretty small)
My rule of thumb is each "person" (whether it be a child or adult) needs an area = or greater than 64 square feet [ 8 ft. by 8 ft. ] and this does not include storage/closet space.

That would basically be any room where the length and width multiplied equal 40. For instance, that could be:
5x8
6x6.67
I guess if you were going to have more than one child in a bedroom, then the room would need to be twice that size.
I hope this helps!

yes but 6'x6' = 36 sq ft'
so 5' x 8 = 40sq ft.
they are talking about 2 kids per rm..
10' x 10 ' br 100 sq ft good for 2 small children.
and that is small.
12 yr old needs that..alone 100 sq ft.

Are you sure? 40square feet would be 10 times 4. Doesn't make any sense.

You sure you have the measurements right, because that's the size of a closet.
