Yeah quasar is the word you're looking for, but they have nothing to do with quantum mechanics.
Quantum mechanics deals with the very very small constituent particles of matter. A quasar, or quasi-stellar radio source, is a very very big and energetic thing. Not precisely sure what it is, but it is not a sub-atomic particle.
