i need to re-glue a nail onto my finger, but there's still old glue from last time there. how do i get the old glue off?

Only acetone-based nail polish remover will remove the old glue (a buffer would help some if you have one). It will still take a good bit of rubbing, so I'd recommend soaking your nail in a capful of the remover before you really go at it, but it will get it off. When you're buying the polish remover though, make sure you check the label closely because a lot of polish removers aren't made with acetone anymore these days.
