shelac based primer (killz makes one) and re-paint

If it's matte finish paint, then Killz or similar stain covering paint, then the color of your choice. If it is satin finish - has a slight gloss - then it may wash off - I'd use Clorox cleaner spray. OR one of those Mr. Clean erasers.

However, it is most likely you will have to repaint- and if you you, you will likely have to repaint the whole wall, even if you go white again. White gets dingy and a small patch of it would stand out like a sore thumb.

Goof Off removes permanent marker stains. it also depends on what type of paint sheen is on the wall. flat&eggshell-just re prime and paint

satin, semilgloss, and high gloss paints are easier to clean.

Unfortunatly, anything that will remove permanant marker will also remove the paint with it. Best bet is to repaint the area with original kilz, not the latex stuff, and hope to blend it in. Original kilz is white.

You know alcohol gets marker off pretty good, but most likely you'll have to prime it then paint it. Hey you could always use it as an excuse to repaint and add some color to you house.

I would say that you could use Bleach and 409 Kitchen cleaner and that should do it.
