To some it is, but if that is what people think they have to do to have fun they are headed down the wrong road....

I suspect that if people get drunk on Thanksgiving Day they have an excuse for every time they get drunk. You know, "I had a bad (good) day," "I'm happy (sad) (lonely). Whatever.

My family celebrates Thanksgiving traditionally; a family gathering, a nice dinner & we each come up with one thing we are thankful for.

I have never heard of having a DJ. Everyone does their own thing after Thursday. I really wouldn't want to do anything else on Thanksgiving Day itself. We watch the parade & the guys watch football.

well I never heard of anyone having a DJ to celebrate Thanksgiving, but anything is possible. My family has always followed the traditional ways of Thanksgiving.

When I think of thanksgiving, I think of my whole extended family at one long table with tons of food....and then sitting around, watching the parade, and also everyone watching the dog show. Plus, I think of sitting at a country club with my grandparents, which used to be fun too. I think a thanksgiving party is not the purpose, but everyone has their own traditionss.

No drinking at our dinners...last year when I hosted I offered wine, but no one took me up (but mostly because no one drinks wine, and beer with T-Day dinner seems weird) But honestly, sometimes I wish I COULD drink! (LOL!) But ours is basically a simple (if turkey, ham, and ten sides plus three or four desserts can be considered "simple") family dinner with close family, we eat, and talk. We don't really watch much t.v. the guys in our family are more into baseball than football.

I don't know anyone who does that during Thanksgiving weekend. Getting drunk is so nasty...why would anyone do that with family around.

Long football weekend of drinking and on top of that way too much eating. Not much concern about the appearance that weekend, either. Haha. :)

It is a time to get together with your family for the long weekend but it is also there to symbolise the thanks that the pilgrims gave to the native americans when they came to their land.
