I have a prince turbo shark, and while its really comfortable, I can't pull off some of the bigger shots, with the ball landing just a little over the baseline. So does lead tape help give more control by making it heavier or what?

When you add lead to your racquet the problem is is that it puts your racquet off balance in general it is good to add lead to your racquet if you know where to put it for specific conditions. Lead will let you hit harder returns with less effort but will not give you control. I do not recommend adding lead to a racquet unless you know what you are doing because by adding lead you are throwing your racquet off balance making the racquet more or less head light or heavy which means the racquet will not play the same.

Lead tape can help with control if you put it in the correct place on the racquet. Probably on the handle. I would suggest going to a tennis warehouse or somthing and tell a racquet stringer that you want more control or spin and they will know where to put the lead tape.

no, lead tape does not help for more control is does the opposite.
so here are some suggestions to your problem:
1. tighten your string since a high tension equates for more cantrol, but i dont suggest to go over the maximum limit recommended by the manufacturer 'coz it may destroy your racquet.
2. if you're already on the maximum limit then suggest for you to look for a new racquet that fits your swing style. and...
3. try using semi or full western grip. these grips produces more topspins - more forgiving for bigger shots.
hope that helps... enjoy

Put a strip of lead tape on both sides of the frame and/or on the top and bottom of the frame. Make sure you put an equal amount of tape on each side of the racket. Also, be sure to put the same amount of tape that you put on the head of the racket on the throat area of the racket so that the balance will stay the same. Keep adding more tape untill you've found the weight you like. More weight equals more control. Don't worry about putting too much tape on, as you can remove it just as easily as you put it on.

Actually it will give you more power. Try stringing your racket 5 or 10 pounds over the maximum tension, The Racket can handle it and it will give you more control. You may want to put a vibration dampener in to absorb some of the shock from the tighter strings.

Adding weight to the head will give less control because there will be more momentum to overcome when changing direction in movement of the racquet.

lead tape increases the weight of the racquet which in turn gives more power..not really more control.
