Be very care careful. You did not mention what iPod you have and what ver of iTunes you have. If you do not do things correctly, you risk losing everything from you iPod. iPod tries to synch the ipod with iTunes. As an example, if iPod finds songs a,b,c,d,e,f,g on itunes and you try to synch your ipod to itunes and your ipod has songs a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k, during the synch process, songs h,i,j,k, will be deleted from your ipod and not added to itunes, be CAREFUL! Worse yet if there is nothing in itunes and you have several thousand tunes on the ipod, guess what, synching will delete EVERYTHING from your ipod.
Hark! Pick up some relatively cheap software that will turn OFF the synch and save the songs on your ipod. I use iGadget from www.purpleghost.com. I highly recommend www.tivocommunity.com and do a search. Almost any problem you have with ipod > itunes can be solved there.
Good luck

2 techniques a million. it can ward off your bros songs that you want to a flashcontinual or a disk, open thatcontinual or disk on your pc, and upload those songs on your music library. (that is what I did after I upgraded from an iPod classic to a sprint). 2. in case you stay inclusive of your brother, i imagine the iHome project is meant to be able to merge money owed or some thing on iTunes. I have not in any respect tried it so i do not understand precisely what it does yet i imagine it will be well worth a shot.

Plug the iPod into the computer with a USB cord. If you have iTunes, the machine will automatically recognize the iPod and open iTunes. Click the 'import' button.
