Where is the best place to get the RAM and can I put it in myself?

I assume you're talking about a G3, in which case, Max RAM is 640 MB. Crucial makes excellent RAM and can ensure you pick the correct RAM.

Kingston, Crucial, Samsung or OWC RAM are highly recommended for Macs. Kingston, Crucial and OWC sites have Advisor Tools that you can input your type of iBook and get a list of recommended RAM for your iBook.
