If this is the normal gas wall heater it should have a gas valve with a knob with 3 positions. Off, Pilot and On. Turn the thermostat off so the heater will not come on. Put the gas valve in the Pilot position. There should be a button to push to supply gas to the pilot light. It may be the gas valve knob that you have to push down. Place a lighted match to the pilot light and push the button. The pilot should light. Hold the button down for about 3 minutes to heat up the thermocouple above the pilot light. Release the button, The pilot should stay lit. If not, The thermocouple is probably bad and needs replaced. If it stays lit, Turn the gas valve to ON and turn the heater thermostat on and to the temp you want. Hope this does it. Their may be instructions on the valve or one of the panels too.

Look at the control knob on the gas valve. It will have the on pilot & off labeled. Turn the knob to pilot, normally you will need to slightly push down to turn it. When you get to pilot push it down fully & if it has an ignitor strike it or use a grill lighter to light the pilot. If it has been off all summer it may take a while to light. Once the pilot lights continue to hold teh valve button, up to a minute. When you let go it should stay lit, if not try lighting and holding the button a bit longer. If it still goes out & the pilot flame was strong and blue then the thermocouple may need to be replaced.
