When do I start counting the days between my periods? The day when I totally stop or the day when I start spotting at the end of my period?

You're actually supposed to count your cycle from the first day of your period, to the next first day. So when they say a woman has a 28 day cycle, they include the period in that cycle.

You cycle may change thoughout your life as well - as short as 20 days and as long as 36. It'll change due to stress, age, general health, pregnancies, etc.

Howver, most women do stick to a pretty regular cycle, with only a day or two of variation.

A cycle is counted from the first day of her last period to the first day of her next. Most women have an average 28 day cycle. All cycles usually experience slight changes from month to month. Also, a woman usually ovulates 14 days before her period and 14 days after the first day of her last period. Her most fertile days are 3 days before she ovulates, the day of , and the day after she ovulates. It is almost impossible to get pregnant on any other day despite what people may say. Usually it is hard for a woman to know the exact day she ovulates so it is hard to know when to have sex. If you are trying not to concieve I would avoid these days anyways. The best way to concieve is to have sex at least every other day all month long. Yippy!! lol!! I hope some of this helps you!!!

p.s. I see that people tell you to count the day you completly stop. That is not correct. Here is a direct quote from a reliable website.
''A cycle begins on the first day of bleeding and continues up to, but not including, the first day of the next period. Women’s cycles range from 21 to 40 days or more, with an average of around 28 days. The length of a woman’s cycle may change a little or a lot from month to month.''
