im doing curls at home with 15-20 pound dumbbells and no big results within the month, are there any ways of increasing my muscle to make my arms look big, for example instead of just lifting the dumbbell up and down, how about like aross the chest or something????

I tried everything, and nothing, you should not eat fat like that other guy told you, and you should here the other guy about the resting in between for a day or two........ The answer for ur muscles to grow is to eat more, but in a healthier way, add more vegetables and food with a lot of protein, I recommend you to eat supplements or meal replacement, you can buy whey protein and eat it in between your meals and before and after exercising..... that won't give you fat just muscles!

Fat is not turned into muscle. That is absolute nonsense - especially the idea that skinny guys might need to put fat on first! No body builders have high fat diets!

You should be using weights that you can just lift 6-8 times and do 4 sets of each exercise. That will add bulk. Doing more reps with more managagble weight will tone your muscles and shed fat.

There are several different arm exercises with dumbbells designed to target different areas of muscle. You shouldn't just be bicep curling. There's loads of websites that will show you - http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mraz4.htm dont be put off that its a woman - this routine is a good one.

To build bulk you gotta have mass to work with in the first place. Skinny scrawny dudes can't lift weights and turn into Arnold.. They gotta have some fat to turn into muscle... So depending on how much mass you have to work with now... IE, if you are scrawny you have to gain weight/fat to turn into muscle. If you already got some mass and just need to develope into shape.. then use heavier weights and less reps. As mentioned lotsa reps with light weights burns fat, and that is just toning. You wanna rip them muscles good with a heavy weight.. Let the tissue heal for a day or two... Rip them again. Depends on age and how fast your tissue heals as well. Main thing is don't keep rippin your muscles and cause permanent informities or such..

Bottom line, heavy weight.. Get a good rip and feel that burn. Next day or possibly two you should feel the stiffness and soreness... Let that heal for another day or two until you can do it again. Rip and heal... Rip and heal..... Bulk up my brutha (*hulk poses*)... Ooohhh Yeahhhh

Don't just curl up, but slowly let the weight down. Take longer letting the weight down than bringing it up. You use muscle mass to lift the weight up, and you use muscle mass to let the weight down. You fight gravity. This is a killer but guaranteed to make your arms strong. If you go for strength rather than looks, the looks will take care of themselves. If you go for looks, strength may not be there. With looks you have to constantly pump up to look strong. With strength your arms don't look artificial, but they look impressive. Keep in mind that forearms are a major "look" component of impressive arms. I think various pull ups are the best for arms and shoulders.

At that weight you're pretty much just toning. You need to get heavier weights if you want to bulk up.

Also don't fortget about your shoulders. Good, old fashion push up are great for that.
