I'd say she's not necessarily a sell-out for leaving No Doubt, there were definitely creative differences between her and the band members.
As we've seen from Gwen's solo career so far and her quotes from her last few months with No Doubt she was more self-attention craving than the rest of the band and also had songwriting differences with the other members (remember, she only sang while the other members played instruments). I was honestly just waiting for when she would split, it was really obvious to me.
In a way I guess you could call her a sell-out because of the split in the fact that now all eyes would be on her instead of some of the other band members along with her. She's been successful pursuing both paths so I guess that's all that really matters in the end.

i love her solo. purely for the shown truth that that is more convenient to colab with different artists. and likewise, having an all male band with a lady singer is rather problematical... i'm confident the adult adult males favor the songs to be extra about manly stuff and Gwen needed lengthy songs and songs about being a lady.

I have always loved her for her sound and her independent and individual look, but I have become increasingly dissapointed in her. The thing that set it off for me, are the Harajuku Girls...it's overkill! She was so much more meaningful as a artist when she stood out for her lyrics and pink hair, not her entourage.

I love her and no I dont think she is a sell out from her band. I think they still do concerts with her and they never had a bad break up. Kinda like Fergie and Black Eye Peas
