Why is it people are so against gay marriage. I personally think that homosexual people should be given the same rights as us being human. P.S No I am not homosexual but I am also not homophobic

im with you....happiness should concur all.....if two people of the same sex want to live together and love each other....they should be able to be married and have that relationship recognised by the state.........

The masses are afraid of anything they cant relate to. Heterosexuals have the big numbers so they are the norm plus procreation would cease if everyone was gay so I think there may be some innate fear in some people that we breed or else cease. I think gay marriage is ok. It is 2 people that love each other and that is not so bad, but homosexuality is in most animal breeds as well. It makes me wonder if God made some gay to help control population or??? Also I wonder why it is seen as so deviant. It would be very hard to be gay, since they are so unaccepted.

I fall into the same category, I am not gay, or homophobic. If anything, I used to think gay was wrong, but after meeting some gay people, I have learned they are just the same people with a different struggle.:o]
Loving & having faith in God is the most important thing.

I don't know. It's kinda weird people are against it. I mean - you would have thought that men would like men getting married to each other because that would leave more women for them, but for some reason they are very afraid of it.
I think all people should be able to marry (and as Robin Williams said - let the gay people get married. They should be just as miserable as the rest of us). And if not marry, at least have the same legal rights as married people.

People hate what they can't understand... or something like that. Its the same as a black man hating a white man or a white man hating a black man. It's two different worlds. How can a straight man who likes women understand a gay man sleeping with another man. Straight people don't understand because they don't live it everyday and they don't feel it. It's easier for people to have something to hate, to be against something because then they don't have to worry about themselves. Most people who hate something so much really can't understand themselves and in turn don't like themselves.

I think those who are "so against" gay marriage are either following the doctrines of their chosen religion as it is preached to them (insecure conformists) or they are threatened by a lifestyle that is different than their own (insecure conformists).
If you do anything that is outside the norm people freak. I see it all the time due to my choice of diet as I eat "health food". Because I am not eating junk food like those around me I am criticized and call a nut. People are constantly trying to get me to eat the crap that they eat because if I am like them it validates their choices.
Weak, insecure people want conformity.

I think the people who are against gay marriage are against it because they feel strongly that it is not right or moral. Think about it...would you support an idea you didn't agree with? See what I mean?

We live in a Christian country and they frown upon it because it violates the bible. Some people think it is a waist of a marriage because they are incapable of having children .

i think its because people are curious and always want to have a say in something. if you aren't gay, then dont worry about it! thats my personaly opinion. if 2 gay people want to get married....fine, its not like im the one getting married to another female, so why is it my buisness to tell someone who they are allowed to marry?
