Please tell me your experience of being an American. Are you living the "American dream"? Is life an ongoing struggle? What needs to be changed for the better in your America? What is already as it should be? What have you to teach other countries? What have other countries to teach you?

no im not living the american dream. only few people actually live it thats why its called a dream. life is an ongoing struggle for me and about 250 million americans. what needs to be changed is definitely the heathcare, and welfare system. the military budget also needs to be reduced from $400 billion to about $40 billion. spend $360 on healthcare and welfare. people will be better taken care of. food in the u.s. is great though. dont change that. i love american buffets and taco bell. i also like how people trust each other in the states. in a lot of countries people dont trust each other and that is sad. i also like how americans are much friendlier than other countries. thats one thing americans can teach others. and also the food as well. im not talking about mcdonalds coz thats rubish. but like american buffets. even steak, ribs, and chicken wings. other countries have taught me tolerance. many countries are real good at accepting people of different religious groups, backgrounds, gays, poor people, etc. we are all people, and sometimes thats hard to understand in the states because you have to fit into this mold on what a person should be.

I am from Texas and in college. Yes I am living the dream because I want to make a difference. That is why I am going to college. Not just for selfish reasons but to give back to the community and the world for future generations. Life is always an ongoing stuggle whether you are an American or not, ti is just part of the day to day battle in life.

Let me tell you what MY America looks like. My America is the greatest place in the world to live. In America we are free to be whatever we want to be, say what is on our minds without having to worry about repercussions. I have always been so proud to be an American. I'm 56 years old and my heart still fills with pride when I see the flag blowing in the wind or hear the National Anthem playing. I will thank God all the days of my life for letting me be an American.

I achieve the "American dream" when my wife and I went to night school, and 9 years later, got our college degrees. ONLY THEN could we get decent jobs and decent salaries. Until then, it was anything but a dream; our life was hard, poor, and a constant struggle. College or a trade is the ONLY WAY to achieve the American Dream in this country.
