I think you should relax, and take your time with this. Don't rush in to anything else just yet.

You need to be comfortable being by yourself before you meet someone else. Trust me - I was a single mum for three years (I left him at age 24) before I met someone else. It was definately worth the wait. Just put some attention and time in to you and your little one for now, and it will happen when you are ready.

Oh sooo young.
I think you can move on after you establish your own identity.
At 21 you've already lived through marriage, childbirth and divorce. Most people wait for another ten years to do all that.
There is more than one Mr. Right out there. Don't be in a hurry to incorporate another guy in to the mix until you are sure who he will be dealing with. Stay single make your own way figure out your personality without a guy. Then you will be ready to work on the next one.
He was ready to move on right away but I'd wager his result will be no better.

You should not listen to others but to your own heart. It sounds that you are already healed. Time is the great healer. But how long will it take for average person? After much study, this is the best formula for getting an estimate:
Long relationships (1 YEAR OR MORE)
estimate how happy you were (day to day) on a scale of 1 to 3
estimate how physically attractive you found your mate on a scale of 1 to 3
add up A and B - and then divide this number by 2-- this will give you a number in years
subtract one year from the total
If you were very happy and was very attracted to him then 2 years is maximum time to forget him and move on.
If you were just happy and he was do do guy then one year is more then enough.

How long to wait to start a new relationship with an other partner is not your main problem! I know very well, that many readers here will howl and yowl, but the truth is, that in the eyes of men you being already a mother makes you a second-class woman! Your chances to find an honest and truely loving partner are very low! Therefore you should be especially careful, when you pick a new partner. Make sure the best you can that he truely loves you AND your child (or is it children?) and not that he only wants to have sex with you!

I know you want so badly to be with the right guy, especially since you want your child to have a father figure in his life. But I have known alot of people who were single moms, and I was one once myself. Never, ever push a guy to be what you want him to be. Chances are the guy you were with wasn't right for you, you were just so lonely and wanted your Mr. Right so bad, you just didn't see it. I know it's hard to believe when you are so lonely, but men are NOT everything, though some think they are.
So, instead of finding Mr. Right, do this:
1) Realize you are a catch. It takes a strong woman to raise a child on your own. You are worthy of love. You haven't blown your chance, and never tell yourself you did.
2) I don't know if you yourself married this guy, or you dated him and he was married, but if he was married(to someone else), don't look back on him. He has proven his lack of commitment to a marriage already, be glad he's gone.
3) What do YOU want out of life? What are your dreams, besides to have a man? Get the job you want, or the education you want, concentrate on where you'd like your life to go. Never put all your reliance that someone will come along and make your life worthwhile. YOU make life worth while for you.
Chances are while your out there fulfilling your own goals, Mr. Right will come along.

it all depends on the person some people need alot of time some people cant wait to forget about the past. it has been a long time for you i think that you should forget about that guy and move on to something better. who wants to sit in the house and be depressed cause that what it's gonna make you. there is somebody for everybody you will find the right guy. you are young and life is to short to worry about one a#$%hole.

I think that you should wait for as long as you feel like it, its your life and no one can tell you what to or what not to do anymore. If you are feeling like you need to find someone and get on with your life, go do it girl!! Get a babysitter and hang out with your girls, even if its just going out to dinner with them or to catch a chic flick at the theatre. Just go out and enjoy yourself, don't think about finding Mr. Right (he IS out there by the way!), and when the time is right, he will be there. But don't waste your life looking for it, its way too short for that. Good Luck!

Being lonely sucks, and you shouldn't wait to find the right guy. He is out there. But believe me when I say this you are going to meet many azzholes. Before you find a guy who is right for you. I have been divorced for over a year and I still have not found the woman for me. I have the rest of my life to find her! Good luck!
