It is too late when you are on your death bed. Other than that - never too late.

Seriously, if you want it to be your career - it is best to start before you are 10, if you are 5'7 or shorter. Weight depends on height, and weight goes down as you start dancing a lot. However, a lot of people strart later and still become profesionals. A lot of people are taller and still are very successful.

There is no age, height or weight cut off if you really want to do this.

The question is , do you want to do this professionally or just for fun and as a workout for yourself.

If you want to dance professionally, I would suggest you start early. In the so called " ballet " world there are standards you need to meet to become a professional dancer. It is not just a height or weight issue. Usually a ballet dancer would start at the age of 7 if not earlier and trough the years develop the strength, and technical knowledge of the art form in order to pursue it professionally. For this he is usually judged based on age, technical ability and body. When his training is done, he will get a job based on a audition and at the audition the company who is taking him/or her, will determine if fits the look ( here is where age, and body type play a big roll).
The human body is able to work on a certain level ( in ballet) for just up to a certain age , and that is why most of ballet dancers retire around 30 or 35.

If you just want to do ballet for fun, or are serious about it , but not on a professional level, than you can do it. Anybody can, if you put your mind and body to it.
Don't have anybody tell you different.

Hope this is helpful.

None. Now, there may be extents to which you will be able to excel if you are of varied age/weight/height.... but by no means should any of those things discourage you from learning ballet. I started at age 19. I'm 5''8" and 130 pounds. I was in class with all ages and sizes. It is a VERY good thing to keep you in shape and to teach you grace/poise. By no means should you not do it just because you think you may be "too old" or "too tall" or "too big". It is not necessarily EASY, but then again nothing is when you first start to learn it. I think anyone can do it if they put their mind to it.

Do you mean professionally? If so, the industry likes for the female ballet dancers to be fully trained by there early twenties,be less that 5'8" tall and weigh less than 125 lbs. A professional career only last for about 15 years because it is so hard on there bodies.

Never too late....I'm taking ballet classes and I'm 56 years old.

For a possible career in ballet, most children start before they are 10.

It is never too late to start ballet although you may not be able to accomplish as much as you would have had you started earlier in life. It is great exercise and a lot of fun so I encourage adults to take beginners' classes.

It's never to late. Everyone from 4 year olds to 60+ year olds takes ballet at our local studio. The adults range from in great shape to 100lbs+ overweight. Granted, none of the adults want to be professional ballerinas - they take it for the grace and exercise. : )
