I really like moose. And though it may sound strange I would like to own one. Get it while it's little and raise it. :) But just as owning any other wild animal, comes permits and restrictions. So maybe someone can help me out onto what they might be.

Don't think you are going to be able to own a moose legally. They don't just pass out licenses to own wild animals to just anyone!! A zoo or wildlife rehab would be able to have one in their possession. What makes you think you are qualified to own a moose? Moose are highly dangerous animals, they kill more people yearly than bears do. Exactly where would you get this moose....you think they are going to take an animal out of the wild so you can play mommy to it! If you really care about wildlife and moose than why don't you help them to survive in the wild and not your backyard. Leave wild animals in the wild were they belong.

If they normally run in herds or small packs in the wild a single solitary moose would probably not like being alone and probably not make for a good pet. Unlike cats and dogs moose have never been domesticated. Also no one would sell you a baby moose. If you tried to take a baby moose in the wild away from its mom you might risk death, and it wouldn't be worth it.

If you would like a wild animal for a pet look under "exotic pets". Only certain kinds are sold by breeders. Moose probably not one of them.

Any permit that would correspond to running a large game preserve. You have seen the examples of this around the country; for all types of wild animals. A grown moose is one big animal, so that would figure in the authorities decision, along with your situation.
