i like coated heads maybe someone can fill me on some in that catagory.

Pearl pro-tones
remember tightening lugs and putting stuff inside the shells can drastically change the sound, even different bass pedals.

Don't go with the Pearl pro-tones, they are just Pearl stock heads and are not very good.
Personally I like coated Remo Emperors for the toms, coated Remo Emperor X for the snare, and Remo coated Power-stroke 3 for the bass.

get a remo. if you can pay the money, i definately recommend the EMAD. sounds amazing. most of your sound though, is gonna come from how you tune, and muffle the drum. for instance, i fixed a broken head w/ tape on a shitty CB set, and it sounds like a new pearl.

Go with a more solid head if you want more effect on the hit. If you are looking to just keep a steady sound go with a softer head
