on a machine running Ubuntu Linux, is it possible to run two different sound cards to two different sets of speakers playing two different sources? ex) so I can listen to music in one room, and someone else can watch a DVD in another room; all wired to one computer

in theory running two sound cards is possible on any machine as long as they dont conflict with each other on the various resources, ie the i/o range and the irq you can check and set these via the control panel of windows, not sure about linux though.
