My daughters already know about disney.com, nick.com and barbie.com. Are there any other sites that have online activities suitable for them?

Pbs.org is a great website - has lots of different stuff on it, based on the different shows. My kids always liked the Zoom portion of it. There's also the website for American Girls which has lots of history and other stuff on it.

Get her off the computer and outdoors or with a book. I think studies in the future will show that electronic interaction during the formative years of the brain is not the best option available.

Now, that being said, let me go to the bookmarks on this computer that I have saved for my own 8 year old daughter (*hangs head in shame*)

Just limit the amount of supervised time she spends on computer. There are worlds of good, educational sites. Depends largely on her interest.
