a run of three. Opponent plays a 3 and says he is entitled to a double run! I don't think there is any such thing as a double run when you're pegging. Is there?

Your opponent is entitled to just 2 points for the pair of threes.

There is no such thing as a double-run during the 'play' of cribbage. Double-runs can be counted during the 'count' of the hand and/or crib.

My credentials. I am a member of the American Cribbage Congress (ACC)which is the largest organization for cribbage with over 7,000 members I am on their Board of Directors, the ACC Internet Tournament Commissioner and I am an ACC-certified judge. I have been playing cribbage for over 40 years.

No. A run only counts if it can be formed from the last three (or more) cards played, with no intervening cards. However, if the order of cards were different in your case, the scoring would be different. If he played a 4, then you a 5, then he a 3, he could peg 3 for a run; then if you play a 4, you would also have 3 for a run.

No, double and triple runs only count when you're counting at the end.
