Ok I was wondering what chance do I have of gaining full custody of my 8yr old son? My situtation is my sons father has been harrassing me since I was pregnant. I gave him joint custody. He never took advantage of the time he had, and he never paid support cause he either wasnt working or he was hurt on the job. Now here is my problem in May he called dcfs on me 3times in 4 months an then put an order of protection me. It was dropped 3 days later and I didnt have a lawyer. Then at the end of his summer vacation he refuse to give him back. Then I get paper that said he filed for full or temp custody and me supervised visits I didnt have time to retain a lawyer but I showed up and the judge gave temp custody to him pending final hearing. The judge said we need to set a time that is longer than 30mins His grounds for seeking custody is I have moved 4times in 8yrs and I have had 5b/f and my son who is a.d.d failed 1st gr. Does he have a leg to stand on? I do have a lawyer.

He may have it sounds to me that your home life is rather unsettled and you have had many different men in your life this is not a good atmosphere to be raising a child. The judge will look at the person that has the best interests at heart for the kid long standing in the same home, good relationship with someone of the opposite sex and a general love for the well being of the child
the judge may look at you and say to move a young child around to four different homes in such a short amount of time is very hard on someones developmental skills as a kid and can cause them to be distant and often will show degrading education level as in bad grades etc. I do not know who I would side with but the Dad sounds like he may be better able to care for the child you need to fix your life.

Is your son well looked after, supervised, disciplined etc? If so then you have nothing to worry about. The revolving door boyfriends will come in to the equation. Try to keep them out of your sons life unless it is very serious relationship and that will solve that problem. Show the court letters from school and doctors about ADD and what you do about it. Get personal references from neighbours. I don't think he will get him but cover your bases.

I'm not sure what state you live in, but I don't think they will give him full custody....you moving and the amount of boyfriends you've had, have nothing to do with your mothering....I think he is just being a jerk to get child support from you....well I wish you the best of luck!!
