We caught it when it was trying to attack one of my cats. I had to hit it with a broom and I guess I knocked it out. I put a harness leash on it and tied it to a pole in my back yard. It put up a 'do not enter' zone around the cat so no one will get bitten. But the cat is insain crazy and tries to attack anything near it. It is the coolest thing ever. We got a sweater and a pair of jeans and wrapped them over and over with duct tape so we can run up to the cat and let it attact us. I feed it and dont want to let it go because it will pass on the rabies and I dont want to kill it.

I think YOU are the person who is sick! How could you say that harrassing and teasing a rabid cat is "the coolest thing ever" ?? The right thing to do would be to call animal control, who would put the cat out of its misery and dispose of its body in a safe way. Keeping a rabid animal alive is not only cruel to the animal (rabies causes a lot of physical suffering), but it's also downright DANGEROUS!

Any creature the cat bites, including humans, is at risk of getting the disease. You are "playing with fire" by letting the cat attack you -- one day it might actually bite thru the barriers, and then you'll have to endure a long, painful and expensive series of vaccinations to prevent yourself from getting rabies.

PLEASE do the right thing and call animal control, so they can put the poor animal out of its misery, and so that no other local animals will become infected. The poor cat is going to die within a week anyway, but why prolong its suffering and put yourself at risk -- just for sh*ts and giggles? :(

P.S. Franny238, below me, is badly misinformed (and also can't write!). By the time an animal displays physical and mental symptoms of rabies, IT IS TOO LATE. Shots won't do anything at that late stage; the animal will die.

Err... are you sure its rabid and not just really, really pissed off about being tied to a pole? Feral cats are normally tempermental, and don't like people (especially people who whack them with brooms), or other cats in their territory.

Seeing how animal cruelty is illegal and you won't just take it to the vet to see if it is really rabid because you will probably get arrested, I think you need to listen to this plan. Put some food in a cage, wait for the cat to go in, close door with handle of broom or something (a have-a-heart trap works better), and drop it in front of the nearest animal shelter with a note saying that it might be rabid and has definitely been abused by a past owner. That way, Kitty gets some place safe and you get rid of it before someone calls the cops on you and you wind up in jail and in the newspapers for animal cruelty.

As for what I think of you as a person, I stopped judging people a long time ago. Still, I hope you were just kidding about this story...

Are you serious. Do you know how tormented an animal is who has rabbies? How much pain they are in and you are teasing it?? You must be a kid, because any grown person with two touching brain cells would not be doing this and advertising it.
The answer to your question is 'DUH' Call the police or humane society/animal control and tell them to come get it. And guess what... your cat, if unvaccinated, probably contracted it and you could have also. You should look up and see the treatment for rabbies in humans. I hope you fear getting it and can go through the torment of the treatment for it. If you are a kid, then you need a visit behind the woodshed, do you not have any respect for life? Be warned, because what goes around comes around. That poor cat, I hope it bites you and gives you rabbies.

You have no proof that it has rabies. Just because it is an aggressive cat, does not mean it has rabies. It is a feral....their life DEPENDS on being a good fighter. Let the cat go, you're just torturing it.

Hit with a stick? Tied to a pole? Tortured? Rabies? I think you should walk right up to it and give it a big sloppy tongue kiss. Tie yourself to the pole and beat yourself with a stick and wait and see if you get rabies!

You are being extremely cruel to this poor cat. This cat is likely attacking because it is scared, being teased and is wild. It most likely doesn't have rabies.Call AC and have them come and pick it up so it can get treated in a more humane manner.
