Occasionally I'm like the rubber duck on the surface of the water. Effortlessly content and buoyant, but also hopelessly separated from the body of water by the surface tensions that make up another person's life. I can't bring the water to be as happy as I am, and the only way to be truly empathetic is to punch a hole in myself, sink myself to the bottom.
