I would have to say yes, depending on how they are raised. I have 4 snakes, a 1 yr old Colombian Red tailed Boa, 2 Ball Pythons, ages 13 and 9 and an 8 year old Burmese Python. I have never been bitten or threatened in any way by any of them. The Burmese is about 8 or 9 feet long and is actually very affectionate as far as snakes go. But all of them are handled everyday and fed on a very strict schedule. Also, i have only fed them frozen food, no live, so that they never got the "feel" for killing. I know i would take a snake over a cat or dog any day!

Friendly Pet Snakes

Any snake can be friendly or friendly, it is all based on personality. Snakes can display emotion and snakes are just like people there are mean ones and nice ones this can be determined when picking a pet snake. Naturally snakes aren't mean but certain breeds of snakes can tend to be more nippy or aggressive. Once a snake reaches a certain size they must be considered dangerous no matter how tame they are because they are wild animals and they can be unpredictable.

I love snakes and they can be really great pets. Reptiles actually can be affectionate and get attached to you like any other animal. I had a lizard that would curl up in my shoe and refuse to come out whenever I went away. My mom would have to put the shoe in her cage and wait to get the lizard into the cage. Try getting a small snake like a green snake or a garter snake. Bigger snakes eat live rats and mice. You can feed the smaller ones crickets which aren’t cute and furry.

Snakes can make very good pets, but it depends on what kind of snake you get.
If you are a first time owner then a ball python is the best kind because instead of striking you they will curl up into a ball when the feel threatened.
BUT
the do get 5 or 6 feet.
So only if your prepared for a snake that will get that size.
Good luck.

Ball Pythons are very good pets. You should have as large a cage as possible. Ball Pythons are very friendly animals. Depending on how big it is you should feed it weekly or biweekly. You feed it more mice bi weekly, and less weekly. Baby Ball Pythons start of eatting pinkies, when they get about 24 inches long try a fuzzie, and at 36 inches try a hopper. You need to use pine bark bedding, have a heatting pad one one side of the cage and a hot rock on the other side. You will need a lid because they are escape artists, so you should tie the lid down in a couple places. Use a good size water bowl so that thay can soak in it to losten dead skin, and drink from it. The total cost can be quite a bit.

It depends on several factors. The two biggest of which probably being what kind of snake you've got (kingsnake, corn snake, python, etc.) and how much it has been handled, particularly when it was little. I imagine gender could potentially play a role in how tame your snake is.

Then, of course, there are always some that are sweeter than others.

Depends on the individual. Snakes have different personalities just like we do. In general though, snakes make awesome pets. I love mine.

My snake Charlie Brown is quite nice, he enjoys being handled and seems to really like my 3 year old son. When we have Charlie out of his tank he always goes toward my son. Charlie is a childerns python(they get 3 feet long full grown) So Yes he's friendly, but then he;s handled often and that helps!!

Snakes do not show emotion that is correct, but they do learn how to react to your touch. I had an 8' boa that had worked with a stripper for years...he was easy to handle and not aggressive. I think they are kinda like all creatures, how they are raised is what they will be.
